Right off of I-5 in Corning is one of the best burgers you can get! It is made to order right in front of you. Nothing sits under a heat lamp at Bartels! So delicious!!!

UPDATE 7/7/2026 We stopped in again and had another great meal. We also confirmed that they use rice/bran oil for their tots, which is an excellent choice. Those are some of the best tots we ever have. Finally, while talking with employee Taya, I commented to her how nice and friendly everyone seemed on the staff. With a big smile she replied, "I love my job!" Wow - that is so rare to see these days, especially in the food industry and is definitely a big factor in why we keep returning. Even when a restaurant has an off night, we're willing to go back if we know the employees are nice and they like what their doing. Now, to be fair, we've never had an off meal at Bartel's, but if we did, we'd give the employees like Taya the benefit of the doubt and would definitely come back for another try. (Another employee immediately attended to an issue with the restroom as soon as we told them about it. ...nicely done Bartel's staff and management!) U dont see many of these type of burger joints around these days. It's located right off of I-5 in Corning Ca its a family owned business that serves traditional burgers and fries along with their BERTHA burger (1/2 pound burger) and their BACON BOMB BURGER! Lots of different sides to choose from... onion rings, avocado, bacon, French fries, tater tots, jalapeños, Ortega chili, just to name a few along with your choice of BLENDED or ICED coffee drinks, a variety of milk shakes malts and floats. They serve PEPSI products and u can add RED BULL (sugar free, regular and/or infused to any meal. They are a PET FRIENDLY establishment and u can get a 1/4 pound or 1/3 pound doggie patty for your favorite canine and they offer HORSE TREATS too. Their is a large bathroom so plenty of room For a wheel chair, and there is plenty of parking. They have indoor and out door seating or u can sit at the counter. This Bartels is open 10am till 9pm 7 days a week. There is also a BARTELS in Red Bluff that is similar yet oh so different than this one but ran by the same owners. This is what I call an old burger shack. Looks like it is run down but the truth is the food is what you come for. This pull off the highway location is a great little stop. You will have to wait 15 or so minutes to get your food, but its worth the wait. I got a giant burger meal add 2x cheese and bacon with large fries and a large strawberry shake. 28.07 The burger was as big as my face. Worth every single bite. Definitely planning on going again.

An awesome burger place, right off the highway in Corning, that cooks your burger as you order it! Asked for medium rare and that’s exactly what we got on our burger. Fries were hot and perfectly seasoned and the fountain drinks perfect. Done seating in the inside, but you can also enjoy the fresh air outside. Decent amount of parking and just as easy to get in and out of the place. The service was excellent, with a very welcoming greeting when we entered and lots of smokes! We were here after attending a concert at the casino, so it was a perfect way to end our little road trip!
